Parkinson's Insights, Women and Wealth, and Rethinking Elder Care: What's Happening This October
Hope and Help: Understanding Parkinson's with Dr. Meredith Roberts
We're delighted to announce that our next Wisdom Group gathering will take place on October 22nd, featuring a special guest presentation from Dr. Meredith Roberts of Parkinson's Pointe. Dr. Roberts brings a wealth of knowledge and a heartfelt commitment to supporting those affected by Parkinson's disease, and we are honored to welcome her to our group.

During her presentation, Dr. Roberts will share insights into living well with Parkinson's, including current approaches to care, strategies for maintaining independence and quality of life, and practical ways to support loved ones along the journey. She will also introduce the community resources and programs available to individuals, families, and caregivers, so that no one has to navigate this experience alone.
Whether you are personally touched by Parkinson's, caring for someone who is, or simply curious to learn more, we warmly invite you to attend. There will be time for questions and conversation, so come ready to engage and connect with your fellow members. We look forward to seeing you there!

Every Person's Life Is Worth a Novel: Highlighting Kristine Quine
By Barbara Kreisman,
PhD, Founder, Purposeful Aging Wisdom Group at the University of Denver
Some women seem to collect lifetimes within a single lifetime: the corporate executive, the nonprofit founder, the entrepreneur, the wealth advisor, the mother, the widow, the risk-taker who keeps landing on her feet. Kristine Quine, a founding member of our Purposeful Aging Wisdom Group, is one of them. Her path has taken her from the executive suite of a Fortune 500 telecom company to the temples of India, and from founding SmartGirl, a nonprofit that reached more than 10,000 girls, to her current work as an independent wealth manager helping women navigate money, transition, and power. Through every chapter runs the same thread. "My whole life is advocating for girls and women," Kristine says simply.
Her story is told with equal parts humor and hard-won wisdom, and it speaks to anyone standing at their own threshold of reinvention, caregiving, loss, or opportunity. Read on to learn how she built a billion-dollar sales division, why she took a five-year sabbatical with no plan, what it means to earn a "PhD in entrepreneurship the hard way," and the role models and roots that shaped her along the way.
The Great Wealth Transfer Is About More Than Money. It May Be a Historic Shift in Women's Economic Leverage.
By Kristine Quine, Wealth Strategist,
Exceptional Wealth & Family Office
For generations, women carried enormous responsibility without corresponding economic authority. They raised families, built businesses, supported communities, and cared for aging parents, often with less access to the systems where financial capital was concentrated. Today, several powerful forces are converging at a scale that may be historically significant. Women now hold growing advantages in education, financial assets, longevity, and social influence, and for perhaps the first time in modern American economic history, those forces are aligning in women's favor.
The Great Wealth Transfer is usually discussed as a movement of money, but it may be something more: a movement of authority and agency. Women are increasingly asking not just "How much do I have?" but "What kind of life can this money support?" Read on to explore the four forms of leverage behind this shift, why financial responsibility doesn't automatically create financial confidence, and three simple places to begin taking charge of your financial future.
Americans Are in Denial About Elder Care
By Chip Conley
Purposeful-Aging.org Thought Leader and Founder of the Modern Elder Academy
Family has traditionally been our safety net in later life, and the numbers show how much that is still true. More than 80 percent of Americans over 65 who need care depend on kin, and about two-thirds rely solely on informal care. Even in peer countries that spend far more on elder care, the picture looks much the same. So what happens when we begin choosing and building that family ourselves?
One answer comes from a woman in her 60s featured in a recent Atlantic article, who is creating a "radical community-of-care model" for people aging without children. Her circle asks members to do "inconvenient things for people at inconvenient times," and it may sound familiar to those of us in the Wisdom Group. Chip shares her story, along with the shared homes he has created in Santa Fe to address the challenge of living alone, and invites you to explore how chosen family could shape the way we age.
Coming Soon: A More Personal Way to Use 2ndSummit
In our last note, we shared something you may already be noticing: 2ndSummit is growing. Now we're getting close to the next step. We're putting the finishing touches on a more personal way to use 2ndSummit, making it easier to find experiences that match your interests, keep track of what you've signed up for, and stay connected to the people and experiences that matter to you.

Finding More of What Interests You
One of the things we hear most often is that people discover experiences through 2ndSummit they might never have found on their own. And once they show up, they often meet people they'd like to see again. That combination of discovering something new and having people to share it with is a big part of what 2ndSummit is all about.
"I would never have known about Nocturne without the help of 2ndSummit. This was an elevated, classy venue with incredible music and food, and the group who joined from 2ndSummit made the evening magical."
— Andrea G., 2ndSummit member
Making 2ndSummit More Personal
You'll soon have a personal place to keep up with the experiences that interest you, see what you've signed up for, and stay connected around the experiences and communities you choose.
See What's Happening Now
There's more happening at 2ndSummit every week. Take a look at what's coming up and find something that gives you a reason to get out, try something new, or meet a few new people.
